KHALILAH N. YANCEY - Secretary/Treasurer
Khalilah N. Yancey has been a key part of the Baltimore City Fire Department since starting as a fire cadet in high school. She's driven by a passion for public service and a desire to learn, aiming to better serve both the city's residents and her colleagues in the department.
Throughout her time with the department, Khalilah has taken on various roles, gaining valuable experience in its operations. She's also been active in organizations like Women in Fire and the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters, where she tackles important issues facing the fire service.
In 2023, Khalilah made history by becoming the second woman and the first African American woman to reach the rank of Deputy Chief in the Baltimore City Fire Department. In her new role, she oversees the Office of Professional Standards and acts as a liaison to the Deputy Mayor of Public Safety. With her education in Occupational Safety and Health and training from the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute, Khalilah brings valuable knowledge and a global perspective to discussions about modern firefighting and emergency medical services.
Her commitment to learning and professional development allows her to connect theory with real-world practices, improving the department's standards and service delivery. Khalilah's dedication to her work ensures the safety and well-being of Baltimore's residents.
