Lateral Firefighter/EMT-Basic position pays an annual base salary from $70,000 -$94,000 (2024)

FRFR places high importance on education and offers additional compensation to members who hold a degree, with an education differential applied from the hire date. Associates 2% of base wage, Bachelors 4% of base wage, Masters 6% of base wage. The highest differential among Colorado Fire Departments!

To qualify as a Lateral Firefighter, at the time of application, the applicant must possess and provide copies of the following certifications:

·         A minimum of two (2) years of current, full-time continuous employment as a Firefighter (or higher-ranking fire operations personnel) with a public fire district, authority, or department that provides structural Firefighting and EMS services.  Paid call, part-time, or volunteer firefighting experience is not an acceptable substitute for the required two (2) years outlined above

·         Completion of a professional fire academy consisting of a minimum of 150 contact hours. The FRFR Training Chief will evaluate the academy curriculum

·         Valid Driver’s License

·         Current AHA CPR certification

·         Firefighter II Certification (ProBoard or IFSAC accreditation)

·         Hazardous Materials Operations (or higher) certification (ProBoard or IFSAC accreditation)

·         Current State of Colorado EMT Basic (or higher) or current National Registry EMT Basic (or higher) Certification with the ability to obtain State of Colorado EMT Basic within six months of hire
