During the past year, three women have been appointed to the role of Fire Chief and one the role of Chief Deputy around the state. All of these are firsts, making these women the highest-ranking female fire officials in each of the department’s history.
The International Association of Women in Fire & Emergency Services (iWomen) is now Women in Fire. This change is part of the organization’s strategic plan that has been in the works over the past year.
A new report, Emerging Health and Safety Issues among Women in the Fire Service, studies the critical health and safety issues of female firefighters and EMS responders.

The opening keynote speaker for the 2019 Leadership Conference, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Monday, April 8, in conjunction with FDIC International, is Battalion Chief Tiffanye S. Wesley.
The block of rooms for iWomen attendees is now open for our 2019 Conference. These rooms are on a first-come, first-served basis and will only be held through January 31st.
